Physician Assistant to: Dr. Jaime Hernandez

Nicholas was born and raised in Newberg, Oregon. He attended Life Pacific University in San Dimas, California, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in biblical theology. He later earned an associate’s degree in respiratory care from Excelsior College in Albany, New York, and went on to pursue a career as a physician assistant, completing his Master of Physician Science at Loma Linda University. Nicholas brings a broad and well-rounded background across multiple clinical settings to SCOI in delivering exceptional care.

Before joining SCOI in 2021, Nicholas worked for four years with a large orthopedic group in Ventura County, specializing in total joint replacements and sports medicine. He also served as a respiratory therapist for eight years at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he treated both chronic and acute patients in the ER and ICU. His community involvement includes coaching girls’ basketball at Moorpark High School for four years and serving in leadership at a local church for 14 years.

Nicholas is a certified member of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and the Physician Assistants of Orthopedic Surgery (PAOS). He is passionate about caring for his community—one patient at a time—and believes that meaningful care goes beyond the clinic, extending into every opportunity to serve and support others.

In his free time, Nicholas enjoys playing and coaching sports (especially basketball), mentoring others, traveling, and hiking with his wife and their six amazing children. His goal is to help individuals discover their potential while making his community a healthier and happier place.

Nicholas works as a physician assistant and sees patients for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, with a focus on total hip and total knee joint replacements. He examines patients, orders and interprets labs and imaging studies, makes diagnoses, formulates treatment plans, prescribes medications, and performs joint injections.

Nicholas is available to see patients in our Valencia and Westlake offices.
