As a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon, Dr. Joseph Mendelis specializes in surgical and nonsurgical treatments for spine-related pain, injuries, and other conditions. Dr. Mendelis offers advanced expertise in the latest procedures and techniques, including disc replacement, fusion, disc removal, and deformity correction as well as complex and revision spine surgery. In treating patients, he utilizes the most current technology, such as microsurgery, navigation, and robotics.
Dr. Mendelis is a Sherman Oaks native and a graduate of California State University, Northridge. He earned his medical degree at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. Following residency, Dr. Mendelis completed advanced specialty training in spine surgery through a yearlong fellowship at University of California San Francisco Medical Center.
