Dr. Rahul Samtani is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon offering highly specialized spine care to patients in Bakersfield and the surrounding areas. His expertise includes complex spinal surgery using the latest techniques, including minimally invasive spine surgery and robotic-assisted procedures. He has a passion for motion-preserving spine care, including decompressive surgeries as well as lumbar and cervical total disc replacements. He also offers a number of nonsurgical treatments to help alleviate pain and improve function, including injections, therapy, and medications.
Originally from Maryland, Dr. Samtani received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in College Park. He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree with distinction from The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. During medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. After successfully completing his residency, he pursued further subspecialty training in one of the premier complex spine surgery fellowships in the country at the University of California San Francisco.
Dr. Samtani specializes in conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He is devoted to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the spine using a combination of nonsurgical, minimally invasive, and image-guided robotic techniques for the treatment of spinal pathology. Dr. Samtani is committed to providing each patient with the most advanced and highest-quality care possible.
As an experienced specialist, Dr. Samtani is board-certified in orthopedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also an active member of several medical societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, AO Spine, the North American Spine Society, and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. He has numerous publications and book chapters in both Spine Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery.
