Dr. Erfanian obtained his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from UC Irvine graduating Cum Laude. He went on to UCLA receiving his master’s degree in electrical engineering before obtaining his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Erfanian is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in general surgery at Brown University and in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Because of his special interest in the treatment of hand and wrist disorders, Dr. Erfanian completed a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Erfanian was an assistant clinical professor of surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2007 to 2012. There, he was directly involved in the training of medical students and plastic and orthopaedic residents. He received the Outstanding Teaching Award multiple years while at UNC and was also involved in teaching surgical anatomy to medical students and residents. He has extensive experience in the treatment of complicated hand and wrist injuries, including fractures, dislocations, soft tissue injuries, hand and upper extremity tumors, microvascular reconstruction, nerve repair, endoscopic nerve decompression, wrist arthroscopy, arthritis of the hand, and treatment of congenital hand differences.
He is board-certified in the subspecialty of surgery of the hand, plastic surgery, and general surgery.
Dr. Erfanian is a member of the American Society of Surgery of the Hand and the American Association of Hand Surgery.
