Dr. Bawa completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California in Los Angeles, where he graduated magna cum laude with majors in economics and neuroscience. He earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated at the top of his class, receiving honors in all clinical clerkships, and was elected to the highly esteemed Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Bawa completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Chicago. Following his residency, he underwent additional specialty training through a hip and knee reconstruction and joint replacement fellowship at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) of Cornell University in New York City. HSS is consistently ranked as the number one orthopedic hospital in the country.
Dr. Bawa is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has presented and published in multiple areas of orthopedic research, and his papers have been published in top peer-reviewed orthopedic journals, such as the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, The Journal of Arthroplasty, and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research®. Dr. Bawa is also a reviewer for The Journal of Arthroplasty. Furthermore, his research has been featured in a variety of media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal.
