| Dr. Wiss, a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, completed his orthopedic training at the University of Pittsburgh. | |||
He was awarded the prestigious Girdlestone Scholarship in Orthopedic Surgery from Oxford University and spent a post-graduate year in England. While in Europe, he received additional training through a four month AO/ASIF Trauma fellowship in Germany. Upon his return to the United States, Dr. Wiss joined the full-time faculty at Boston University specializing in Fracture Care. In 1983, he became a full-time faculty member at USC, subsequently becoming an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr.Wiss was Director of the Orthopedic Trauma Service at the LAC-USC Medical Center for eight years. He joined the Southern California Orthopedic Institute Medical Group in 1991. He has special interest in healing disturbances of bone following injury. A Member of the Editorial Board for several Orthopedic Journals, Dr. Wiss has published over 40 articles. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally on Fracture Treatment and Trauma Reconstruction. Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Wiss is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a founding Member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and is a Member of various County, State, and National Medical Societies. He is a Qualified Medical Examiner (Q.M.E.) for the State of California Industrial Medical Council. Department of Industrial Relations. Dr. Wiss and his wife Deborah have two sons, Jeremy and David.
